Running from Myself

All my life I've been running from my capabilities. I grew up with Ausperger's syndrome in a time before anyone knew what it was. As a result I was always considered "odd." My older brother and sister were far more normal than I was, and thus fit in with the other kids. This is something I wanted very much. So I learned to pretend I was normal. That I wasn't intelligent. Eventually I even became afraid of showing others up.

This is the year of the epiphany. I realize that I much do what I was always meant to do. I was meant to work on computers. Fix, optimize, repair, build, teach, and whatever else I might come across. So I'm going back to work in computers. I've got a temp job in customer service which is the foot in the door for getting back into IT. Plus I've gotten my business licences and tax numbers for my own business. Now that we don't have CompUSA anymore. The town needs a good place to take computers for repairs.

Podcast catcher split

So, I split my podcasts into two catchers, iTunes and myPodder. This was mostly to make it easier to listen to some of my podcasts at the computer and some from my phone.

I'm running myPodder from the microSD card I use in my phone. I then just put the card in my phone and go.

Some of the bigger podcasts I'm leaving in iTunes. Like Leo Leporte's podcasts.

The Library

Took my son to the library last night. It was his first time in an actual library in years. We quickly renewed his library card and found the book he wanted. I think I'll go back and check out the technical books they have. Maybe I can study for A+ certification on the cheep.

Too many Podcasts

I recently added some tech podcasts to itunes. I trimmed a bunch of the older episodes from the list and still have over 2 1/2 days worth of unheard podcasts waiting. It seems to me I need to trim a little more.

RT: Redbox at QT?

I think it would be a good fit for a convenience store like QuikTrip to have redbox video rental systems out front. Just a random thought.

Economic Collapse

Is the economy collapsing? I doubt it. I'm in about as bad a financial situation as couple be expected. Just started a new company, called HCR, so we're being supported by my wife's income which is only about $20,000/yr. With the start up and advertising expenses, this is a very tight squeeze. But we'll be fine.
